MCA Vessel Coding, eCMIDS, MLC, SMS Audits

All UK-owned Small Commercial Vessels must comply with the relevant Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) Codes of Practice and be certificated by an MCA Authorised Certifying Authority, of which we are approved coding examiners for Mecal & SCMS. There are various options when MCA coding a vessel up to 24m load line length for commercial use.

At Marine Sea Services, we conduct approved safety management system health checks for commercial offshore vessels. The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA), is a leading trade association representing the vast majority of contractors and the associated supply chain in the offshore marine construction industry worldwide. We are eCMID MISW Approved Vessel Inspectors (AVI ID numbers issued upon request).

Our surveyors/auditors hold the Lead Marine Auditor and DPA qualifications. We are available directly for internal ISM/DSM audits and Safety Management drafting and consultation.

We are approved surveyors for the Port of London Authority Inland waters vessels code - Thames Freight Standard, Inspections, and audits in accordance with the PLA Code of Practice. The vessel range is extensive from small inflatable rescue boats to 1500gt dumb barges and everything in between including tugs, multicats, passenger boats, small freight, and fuel bunker vessels.

All UK-owned Small Commercial Vessels must comply with the MLC requirements when outside of UK waters. The Maritime Labour Convention 2006 (MLC) established minimum working and living standards for seafarers. The MLC was adopted by the government, shipowners & and seafarers & representatives to provide international standards around the globe. The UK ratified the MLC and it came into force on 14 August 2014. We have approved MLC inspectors and can undertake these inspections through Mecal & SCMS.
